Our Philosophy and Objectives
Our ministry philosophy and objective is to teach preschoolers and children about God each time they are at church. Our goal is to help lay the foundation for the young child to accept Christ, presenting the Gospel message and truths from the Bible in ways that are age appropriate. These Christian objectives and concepts are taught through the use of LifeWay Christian resource literature. Because children and especially preschoolers learn by being actively involved, we use the following activities to teach Biblical truth: art, blocks, books, pictures, home living, music, nature and puzzles. The Bible is the foundational part of teaching and is used throughout these areas.
PRESCHOOL MINISTRY
Sunday School/Morning Worship: Sunday School for the preschooler is held at 9:40 am (except for Homecoming and Easter, times will be announced), with Bible learning activities taught by committed faithful teachers.
ETC- Extended Teacher Care an extension of the Sunday School. Follows at 10:45 am, and is taught during the worship service by parents and friends who volunteer on a rotation schedule. Infants through five year olds can participate in ETC, with parents of five year olds given the option of taking the older preschooler to worship service.
Childcare is provided for infants through age five during the 8:30 am early worship service.
Sunday Evening: Childcare is provided for birth through toddlers. TeamKids is offered for children age two through grade six at 6:00pm, with classes located in the children’s wing.
Wednesday Evening: During the school year we have AWANA from 6:15-7:45 pm. During the summer months South Elm has different activities for the children from 6:30-7:30 pm. Classes are located in the children’s wing. Childcare is provided for birth through toddlers.
*Preschoolers are grouped developmentally in Sunday School and all other activities until age two, at which time they are grouped by age.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY (Grades 1-6)
Sunday School/ Morning Worship: At 9:40 am we have Sunday School for children in grades 1-6, taught by dedicated teachers. Children have the opportunity to attend worship service at 8:30 am or 11:00 am and 1st through 4th graders are invited to join us for Kid's Praise & Worship at 11:00 AM only.
Sunday Evening: TeamKids is offered at 6:00-7:00 pm for our first through sixth graders with classes located in the children’s wing.
Wednesday Evening:
Children’s Choir is offered from 6:00-6:30 pm for children who are in the first through sixth grade during the academic school year. The Children’s Choir meets in the adult choir room.
Through-out the Year
Our Children's Ministry offers other activities, programs and ministries throughout the year for our children such as:
Centri-Kid Camp (for rising 4th through rising 7th graders)
Summer Kids Club (grades 1-6)
Summer Preschool Camp (4yr olds through Kindergarten)
